Question

I am just curious... why aren't images allowed on this board? (I read through the FAQs and didn't see anything on the topic, but I am assuming there is a reason that images are disabled.)

What kind of images? I've seen a lot of people put pictures in their signatures, and obviously we have our avatars. I wasn't aware of anything being disabled...

Pictures and Image sharing are allowed. Most people on this board share pictures through Sony Imagestation which is free. You can copy and paste the link in your posts. You can also share an image with a custom avatar. There are some quirks with setting up hostboard according to their rules which sometimes make our configuration look odd. Maybe another moderator can comment on it. I remember discussing it, but don't remember exactly why the sharing pictures feature appears disabled.

OK... I think I have this figured out. I tried to post a photo earlier using HostBoard Markup Language, but it did not work. This is when I realized that this feature was disabled. -- Over to the left it says:

HTML is enabled.
HostBoard Markup Language is enabled.
HostBoard Markup Language images not permitted.

Anyway, when I came back tonight I decided to try posting an image using regular HTML, and it worked. I'll share it in another post.

Obviously Image Station is much-loved here, since almost everyone uses it. I don't really like having to click on the links *and* log in (even though I do have a IS account from years ago). Call me lazy. LOL! I like to use Photo Bucket, because you can post the images directly to message boards. It's also free (although they have upgraded accounts for pay).

I think people tend to gravitate towards the albums on IS because the format is more amenable to telling stories with the pictures than just posting them in the message board. I leave myself signed in to IS all the time, so I can just click the links...For just one or two pictures, though, I agree it's more practical to put them directly into your post.

I started using IS before I knew about Photobucket. I use Imagestation to send albums to my other - non-hostboard friends, so I just got used to the format. I like how with Photobucket you can just put a picture of a doll or new outfit, etc. right on your post.
